This is one-on-one work, just you and me — unhurried, relational, and oriented entirely around what you need. 50-minute sessions are available in person in the Portland area and via telehealth anywhere in Oregon.
Together we'll find the format that works best for where you are and what you're working through. My approach is body-based and relational. I draw on somatic therapy, Brainspotting, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness practices, and family systems theory — not as a protocol, but as ways of meeting you where you actually are.
We follow what's alive and true for you, not a predetermined script. The work I do most often touches on faith and spiritual transitions, complex developmental and attachment trauma, life passages and identity shifts, medical transitions and health crises, and the particular challenge of becoming someone different than you were expected to be.
If something you're carrying doesn't appear on that list, reach out anyway — these are starting points, not boundaries.

Accessing mental health benefits offered by your insurance provider can help offset costs associated with treatment. Typically mental health benefits are similar to other physical health benefits including yearly visit limits, co-payments, and deductibles. They also require that services be deemed “medically necessary” Which requires a mental health diagnosis and may be subject to prior authorization. I am currently in the process of becoming credentialed with the following insurance companies. I am able to bill as out-of-network until that process is compete.
Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield
Aetna

If you have an insurance provider that is not listed above, services may still be covered in part or in full if you have “out-of-network mental health benefits.” Please contact your insurance provider using the member services number listed on the back of your health insurance card for more information about your benefits. I am able to provide a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement of out-of-network benefits.

It is important to me that mental health services be accessible to all regardless of socioeconomic status or insurance benefit availability. I have a few dedicated spots at a sliding scale to accommodate those facing financial hardship. Please inquire about current availability.

If none of these options sound like they would be a good fit for you, there are some other community resources in the Portland area that you can look into:
Portland State Community Counseling Clinic ($20 per session or less)
William Temple House (sliding scale starting at $1)
Mindful Therapy PNW (sliding scale available)
River’s Way Clinic (sliding scale from $5 - $65+)

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to provide a good faith estimate of expected charges for items and services to individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services. “I became a therapist not because I had it figured out. Because I didn't — and life kept going anyway. I know what it is to stand in that liminal space where the old story has ended and the new one hasn't found its shape yet. And I know that something real can be built there.”
